I grew up in a country town with one clothing store that outfitted everyone from kids to farmers alike. I was a complete tomboy with no interest in how I looked - however, I had a fascination with how other people dressed. Changing trends had a special significance for me. When we moved to Sydney in my early teens it took me a while to catch up. I became absolutely obsessed with fashion and although my life has completely changed that fact has remained constant in my life. I believe clothing can brighten your world.

The way you look on the outside makes such an impact on others perceptions of you. This isn’t to say that it is more important to look gorgeous than to be a nice person, it means that if you feel confident about the way you look, you can walk into a room and attract others to you.

The only thing that makes us human is our individuality. The best way to stand out is to dress for who you are and the impression you want to make.

My first job in the fashion industry was as a fashion recruiter. I realised that most of the candidates that came to see us had no idea how to dress for the corporate world. Mismatched suits, unnatural fabrics that melted in summer, bad shoes, I saw it all. I knew there was an opportunity to combine my love of fashion with the corporate world.

After several years, I decided to take a job in Fashion Public Relations. I worked with some fantastic brands as the PR Manager, building relationships with retailers that form the basis of my discounters today.

A year ago I was approached by FBI Fashion College to lecture on several fashion business subjects. I have gained valuable experience that has helped me to create a series of popular corporate presentations.

I started Melanie Moss corporate styling when I reached the point that my jack-of-all-trades experience had finally melded into one common goal – the opportunity to help people find power within themselves. I invest in confidence everyday believing I can make a difference to this industry and the world around me.
