Spring Essentials – The Silk Scarf

To celebrate the warm weather we wanted to show you an easy way to update your wardrobe for the warmer season. We decided to feature the ever-glamorous silk scarf.

Scarves aren't only meant for cold weather, in fact, a printed silk scarf has always been an essential for any stylish wardrobe, and there are a million-and-one ways you can incorporate it to your wardrobe!

We used a Louis Vuitton square silk scarf measuring 90cm on all sides.

  1. To fix a bad hair day, fold your scarf on the diagonal to give it extra length. Keep refolding it every 10 cm in order to achieve a long, thick strip. Wrap the strip around your head, tying a knot at the bottom. Looks great with your hair pulled back in a pony or messy bun. Best of all, it hides the roots of your hair when it's feeling a bit dirty and you don't have time to wash it.
  2. For the ultimate summer hippie style, fold your scarf as above, and wrap it around the top half of your head, tying it at the back over the top of your hair. This adds casual chic to any outfit and has been seen on the younger generation of celebs gracing the circuit.
  3. For a look that is reminiscent of Jackie O, fold on the diagonal creating a triangle, place over your hair (point of triangle facing the back) and tie under your hair to the side, coming out under your ear. Match with oversized sunnies.
  4. There are various ways you can wear a scarf around your neck this spring. Take it to a weekend picnic: wrap it around your neck from front to back and either let hang or tie a knot at the front. Team with a cropped jacket and casual jeans for the perfect spring look. Tie the knot to the side of your neck, which gives your outfit elegance and style. To add impact to your corporate wardrobe, tuck your scarf under a collared shirt and make a bow around the front of your neck. You can even let your scarf hang around your neck for a casual, laid-back feel that carries through the season.
  5. Automatically update an old bag by tying your favourite scarf to the handle. Match it to your outfit by playing around with contrasting colours and prints.
  6. Adopt a fresh new way to accessorize by wrapping your scarf around your wrist. This will get you a lot more attention than if you were to wear the same old bracelet or watch.
  7. Belt it! Glam up an old pair of casual jeans or tailored shorts by wrapping your scarf around your hips. Tie the knot wherever you like depending on the mood you're in.
  8. Need a hair accessory? Finish off a basic pony or plait by tying your scarf over your hair elastic. So chic!
  9. Fold your scarf on the diagonal and place it around your hips, tying it at the side. Now you have a sassy new sarong that won't leave your side all summer.
  10. Finally fold your scarf on the diagonal and wrap around your bust tying at the back. This creates a fantastic summer top that you don't even need a bra for as the scarf holds everything in place. Team with jeans, white pants or shorts and a tan (fake of course!) for a fantastic summer look.

Thousand Reasons – Lets hear it for the boys…

FINALLY! Our male counterparts can now enjoy sassy underwear thanks to the launch of Australian fashion label, Thousand Reasons.

The first summer range (which hit stores in August '06) consists of a versatile boxer that's a "boxer/swim/whatever-you-like" short. Day Four

I must admit I'm getting very addicted to this method now and feel like a princess every time I have a booking. I have seen a massive change to my body which I know is a combination of hard work at Lorena Severi and the gym. I highly recommend using Lorena Severi as kick start to any weight loss, you just get so motivated when you see results so early on. My body feels more toned, stronger and my face is shining with health and well being, I feel euphoric.

I got so relaxed today that I feel asleep in the Chromotherapy Tank. I think it's because I have stopped bringing my busy thoughts into the room and try to use the space as a meditation and reflection time instead.

Day Five

I was lacking in motivation today as it was a Friday afternoon and I had just eaten a 99% fat free Asian noodle soup out of a container which had absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever and I felt horrid.

Grumpy, lazy and not at all well. It made me think how my eating habits have changed so dramatically in the last few months. I threw out the rest of the soups and went back to eating foods with no preservatives. The bad food made such a difference to the way I worked out; my trainer had to push me hard to get results.

I felt good afterwards as I knew what I had to do to stay on track with my new lifestyle.

Day Six

I learnt my lesson from last time and had a chicken and salad sandwich for lunch before working out. It was bursting with goodness and provided the necessary fuel for my body to work hard. It made a huge difference! I worked harder than I have before and was able to do many exercises that I hadn't been able to complete.

This method has been such a fantastic way to exercise. When you see friends on a regular basis and they tell you that you are shrinking daily, well it's a pretty nice thing to hear!

Tip and Tricks to bring out your eyes

I was at the Park Hyatt Pret-a-Portea fashion show last week and had a chance to see the Dior Makeup team in action. They were using lilac eye shadow which made a huge impact on the models who all happened to have green eyes.

I asked the wonderful people at Dior for their hints and tips on how to boost your eyes and bring out the colour.

The best pick of the season is Stylish Move 970 used in the last Park Hyatt event.  This harmony covers a spectrum of shades, from English rose through lavender and chestnut to plum, for an intense and very feminine look.

Just Jeans

Just Jeans has always been a great destination when hunting for a new pair of jeans. What makes them even better, is their current 2 for $100 promotion where you can choose between 3 different styles and a variety of 6 washes. Our pick for this season is the "White Stretch Bootcut" and the "Dark Indigo Stretch Flare".

White Stretch Bootcut

White jeans are an essential item this spring / summer season. The Just Jeans white stretch bootcut is a great choice due to it's comfort factor and elegant style. Team with a blue ribbed cotton singlet from Portman's $19.95, cropped crochet bolero by Jackie E $49.95 and silver ballet flats from Country Road $99 for effortless style during the day. For nighttime, team the white stretch jeans with a silk camisole with lace trims by Third Millennium $299 and "Salma" wood & leather platforms from Zu Shoes $120.

Dark Indigo Stretch Flare

This flared cut is very flattering and extremely easy to wear. The dark wash of these jeans give off a classic–cool vibe and look great with Portman's white racer back singlet with lace detail $39.95 and red canvas flats with bow also from Portman's $29.95 for a laid back nautical look. Wear them at night with sheer print camisole by Wish $89.95 (available at Myer) and a pair of chunky brown wedges by Sachi $159.

Note: When pondering over which jeans you're going to pick, don't go past the 2 tops for $40 promo which includes a range of singlets and t-shirts in light tones of pink, yellow, blue and green. Congratulations, you're officially set for spring.
